Well there you have it.  Lots of coupons in both papers this week.  Hope this list helps you in deciding which and how many to buy.

I buy my papers at Walgreens, because the NewsLeader is only $1.25 there.  While I am picking up the paper, I check to see if there are any Register Reward items that I might want to purchase.  This morning I wanted to get the FREE Crayola Washable Markers and the FREE Hair Barrettes.  The manager told me that they had sold out of those by 2:30 this morning.  Now that is extreme :)  My Walgreens is a 24 hour store, but hopefully the Walgreens near you isn't, and you will be able to score some of those great Register Reward items.
As always I advise calling the store before going, if you are only making the trip for Register Reward items.  In many cases the clerks will hold one back.

Check back later for the recipe of the day, and any other great deals I may post.

Fun mail today! Saturday, July 30

Today's Deal:  A few weeks ago, I had the opportunity to friend "Pantene Shampoo" on Facebook.  Today I received a coupon for a FREE bottle of Pantene Shampoo or Conditioner.  I also received a can of Alpo Dog Food in the mail.  This sample came courtesy of the Wal-Mart "freebie" page.  Anytime a good sample comes up, I'll be sure and post it in my blog.

Today's Recipe:  No Crust Quiche, using milk which is on sale at Dillons.
10 oz. pkg of frozen, chopped spinach/ 4 eggs/ 1c. feta cheese/ 1/2c. milk
Cook & drain spinach.  Add beaten eggs, cheese, and milk.  Pour in dish and bake at 325 for 35 min.

Be sure and check back tomorrow for the list of Sunday coupons.

I'm Back:) Friday, July 29th

Just got back from vacations.  Had a great time!

Since this blog is about saving money, I'll share a few money saving suggestions, I learned about cruising.  My daughter and I took 2 excursions during our 4 day cruise.  We both thought that if we go again, we wouldn't do that because, 1)they are pretty pricey, and considering the short amount of time you spend at each port, you don't really get the chance to enjoy them, and 2)when you go on the excursions, you miss out on some neat things going on aboard the ship.
The other tip I would like to pass along is buy your souvenirs at one of the ports, not on the boat or at the private island.  We found the same souvenirs we bought on the boat (because they were supposedly on sale), at the two ports we spent time at (Key West and the Bahamas), much cheaper.

Tomorrow's blog will be back to local money saving tips.

Great trip, but good to be home.

Vacation: Yeah! Saturday: July 23rd

Tomorrow I leave for vacation.  That is why I use coupons and save money every place I can.  I love vacation:)
I am hoping that I am able to post the week's coupons before I have to leave, but that may not be possible.  So instead, I'm going to give you a preview of some great deals that start tomorrow!

Walgreens:  Scunci Elastic Hairbands-buy 2 for $3, and receive a $3 Register Reward-FREE
Irish Spring Deodorant-there should be a coupon in Sunday's paper.  If you buy 2, you get a $4 Register Reward.  If you use 2 newspaper coupons--then after the Register Rewards, both are Free.  You notice I say should be in the Sunday paper.  One reason I started this blog was to list the coupons that were actually in the paper, because so often what was listed on a national website, would be completely different than what was in our News Leader.
Walgreens Perfection Tampons-FREE after Register Rewards
Crayola Crayons-FREE after Register Rewards

CVSPaper Mate Grip Pens-FREE after Extra Bucks.  Also remember to check out the items that will net you that $10 gas card.  They give you the choice of receving a CVS gift card instead.

Today's Deal:  Many people don't realize that you can use a Walgreens coupon from the weekly ad, or their in- store coupon book, in conjunction with a manufacturer coupon.  Today I bought a bag of Brach's candy corn that was regularly $1.39,  There was a coupon in their weekly ad, and I had a manufacturer coupon.  I got the candy for 29cts.  If you haven't tried it, candy corn mixed with peanuts is the greatest snack in the world.  My friend Nancy introduced me to that.

Did you know, if you switch from doing your laundry in hot water to cold water, it will save you $157 a year.  I learned that from watching "Wheel of Fortune" tonight, and I'm sure that Pat and Vanna are never wrong:)

Today's Recipe:  Quicky Quesadilla, using shredded cheese on sale this week at Dillons.
On a tortilla, layer Monterey Jack cheese, 2 T. salsa, and shredded cooked chicken.  Top with another tortilla and microwave until cheese melts.  If you use chicken breasts, low fat cheese and wheat tortillas, this can be a very healthy meal.

Anyone who becomes a blog follower while I am on vacation, will be put into a drawing for a year's supply of toothbrushes.  For everyone you refer, who becomes a blog follower, you will get an extra chance.  Good toothbrushes are at least $2 and often more, so this prize is worth at least $25. When you are a follower, you can leave comments on the blog.  The more people who comment and share their great deals, the more all of us can save.  If you refer someone, please email me at booklady500@aol.com

I will be back with you on Friday, when my vacation ends :(  Oh well, as the saying goes, all good things must come to an end :)

Treat for Fido: Friday, July 22

Today's Deal:  CVS for the last several weeks has had a list of items where if you buy $30, you get a $10 gift card.  Depending on the items, sometimes I buy different items from the list, sometimes I buy enough of the same item to reach the $30 mark..  This week I bought 6 roll pkgs of Scott paper towels.  They were on sale for $4.77 a pkg., after deducting the $10 gift card, I only paid $3.34 a pkg.  A great deal for 6 roll pkgs.  My daughter never has to buy paper towels either:)

My friend Jane and I went to lunch today.  When she called, I told her that she had 3 choices,  TGIF (I printed off the coupon that I told you about yesterday.), Parlor 88 (I got that coupon from Living Social.), or San Francisco Oven (there is another coupon for Buy 1/Get 1 in this month's Money Saver.)  She chose San Francisco Oven, and we had a great meal for cheap:)

If you want to get a cheap or free treat for your dog, go to Nylabone.com, type coupon in the search box, click on number one at the next screen.  This brings up a sample screen, with a link to click to bring up a printable coupon.  The coupon is for $2, and at Petsmart (I'm told:), there are some Nylabones that are only $2.

Today's Recipe:  Antipasto Salad, using red bell papers on sale at Price Cutter.
1/2 c. of sliced asparagus, sliced mushrooms, red bell peppers/ 2 oz. black olives/ 1 oz. part skim mozzarella/ 3T. red wine vinegar.  Mix and enjoy!

It was a fantastic Friday for savings:)

TGIF(Almost:) Thursday: July 21st

Jane-if you're reading this, that's where we are going to meet for lunch :)

Check back later in the day for the Recipe of the Day.

Keeping you informed of hot savings:)

I Smell Great! Monday, July 19th

Today's Deal:  Walgreens has Mitchum deodorant on sale 2 for $6, with a $4 Register Reward printing out after the purchase. This makes the deodorant 2 for $2.  I had two 75ct. coupons---so I only paid 25cts. each.

One reason I like to coupon, is so that I can help my children, with little purchases like shampoo, toilet paper, deodorant etc.  I gave my daughter one of my 16 roll toilet paper packages.  Her eyes lit up like Christmas:)  Those types of purchases can really add up.  I urge everyone to coupon, not only for yourself, but also to help others.

Today's Recipe:  Cheezy Alps Pie
1 1/2 c. milk/ 4 eggs/ 3/4c. finely chopped smoked sliced beef/ 1c. shredded Swiss Cheese/ pie shell
Beat milk and eggs, add cheese and beef.  Pour into pie shell.  Bake at 350 degrees for 35 min.  Allow pie to stand 10 min. before serving.

Enjoy Summer Savings,
Cindy

Suggestion: Monday, July 19th

Today's Deal:  No shopping today, but I'd like to make a suggestion :)  I send off for "free" stuff.  The form that you fill out often requires that you list an email address, because I don't want to flood my regular email with all of that spam that you often get when you give a company your email, I opened up an email acct. just for that purpose.  Every few days, I'll pull it up, scan to make sure there isn't anything I want, and empty it.  I sent off for "free" diapers yesterday.

Remember if you have anything that you think would be helpful to others, please email me at booklady500@aol.com

Today's Recipe:  Stromboly Pockets, using sliced black pepper turkey from Harter House.
Sliced Turkey/ Crescent Rolls/ any other meats or cheeses that appeal to you
Take crescent rolls and instead of splitting them into triangles, leave in squares.  Layer mustard/ turkey/cheese, anything else that sounds good to you :)  Roll up into small loaf shape, pinch at ends.  Put in oven, take out when the rolls are brown.  Be sure to spray your pan with non-stick cooking spray, the cheese almost always leaks out.  Some people sprinkle the cheese on top, and melt in the microwave, instead of putting cheese inside.

Remember, it's never too hot to save :)

Free Toothpaste: Sunday, July 18th

Today's Deal:  I've told you before that I am not an extreme couponer.  I don't have a life supply of toothpaste.  Not only do I not have a lifetime supply, I realized today, that I don't have any :)  Luckily, Colgate toothpaste was one of the featured items in Dillon's Mega event.  If you purchased 10 items in the chosen categories, they would take 50cts. off each item.  Toothpaste was on sale for 99cts., I had a 50 ct. coupon, which they doubled, so I got it for FREE :).  I had 4 coupons, so I bought 4 tubes.  To reach the required 10 items, I bought 6 single serving pkgs of Velveeta macaroni for 49cts each.  My daughter loves these :)
I paid less than $3 for 4 tubes of toothpaste and 6 single pkgs of Velveeta macaroni.

No luck finding a paper in my area that had a coupon insert.  I'm going to bet there were a lot of unhappy savers this morning.  I had to go back to Walgreens to pick up a prescription, and I noticed they still had stacks of papers left.

Today's Recipe: Dipped Strawberries, on sale at Price Cutter.
Sweet Chocolate/ 1T shortening/ 1 qt strawberries
Microwave chocolate and shortening on medium until melted.  Dip strawberries, place on wax paper and chill.

Make every penny count!
Cindy

BEWARE Sunday: July 17th

NO COUPONS IN NEWS LEADER!  In between my apartment and my Walgreens, there are 2 convenience stores.  After determining that the Walgreens at Campbell and Battlefield was brought a shipment of papers without coupons, I stopped at both convenience stores, and their papers did not have coupons either.  The paper should have one coupon insert.  I am not sure why such a massive number didn't have coupons.  I live close to the mall.
So unfortunately, I don't have the list of News Leader coupons.  If I am able to locate a paper later with an insert, I will post the listing.

Here are the coupon's in today's Kansas City Star:

Don't Miss the Fine Print: Saturday, July 16th

Today's Deal:  My deal today was a new swimsuit at JCPenneys.  My daughter and I are going on a vacation at the end of the summer, so I needed a new one.  Penneys had their Delta Burke swimsuits on sale 60% off.  They also had a coupon, where if you spent $50, you got $10 off.  Basically I got the swimsuit at 80% off:)
On the bottom of most Penneys receipts is an invitation to take a survey.  If you take the survey, you can print off a coupon good for 15% off.  This is good for every purchase that you make for an entire day.  You have to fill out the survey within 7 days of your purchase, but the shopping pass lasts for 30 days.
If you have an event that you know you are going to need a new item for---go in and buy something small, like socks or a pair of earrings, go home--fill out the survey on your computer, then come back in and purchase the bigger items that you were wanting.  I knew one woman who did just that when it was time to buy her daughter's prom dress.

If anyone knows of another business that does this sort of thing, please email me so that I can get the word out.  Let's help everyone we know save :)  Email me at booklady500@aol.com

Today's Recipe:  Apple Cream Nut Dip using cream cheese on sale at Dillons.
2 apples/ 1 pkg cream cheese/ 1 cup pecans (finely chopped)
Peel and grate apples. Mix apples, cream cheese and pecans in blender.  Refrigerate-serve with crackers or cookies.

Check back tomorrow morning to see the latest Sunday papers coupons.

Mega Event Continues! Friday, July 15th

Today's Deal:  I blogged about the Mega Event sale at Dillon's earlier in the week, and if you have coupons those great deals become even greater.  Pepsi is one of the items on sale for 89cts and Tostitos are 2.49.  I had 2-$1 coupons for Pepsi and Tostitos, when purchased together, so that made the Pepsi 2 liters only 39cts. each, and the chips only $2 each.  Since I needed 6 more items to get the special discount, I chose 6 Lipton Green Tea drinks at 49cts each.  They have lots of items that qualify, so if you don't like green tea, there are plenty of other things to choose from.

Today's Recipe:  Asparagus with Cashews, using asparagus on sale at Harter House.
2T. butter/ 1/2c. salted cashews/ 1lb. asparagus
Cook 1T. butter and nuts over medium heat for 1 min.   Remove nuts and drain on paper towel.  Place asparagus and rest of butter in pan, and cook for 1 min.  Add 4T. water, cover and cook for 4 min.  Sprinkle nuts over asparagus, and serve.

Start your weekend out saving,
Cindy

I love FREE:) July 14th: Thursday

Today's Deal:  No shopping today, so I thought I'd tell you how to get "free" things from Walmart.  Go to their website---type: samples-in the searchbox.  The next screen will have Free Samples-underlined-just below the search box.  Click on-Free Samples--then on the next screen---in the middle, will be another box that says-free samples--click on that box, and the next screen will show you what free samples might be available.  Today I sent for a can of dog food, yesterday I sent for some moisturizer.  It's fun to go to the mailbox, when you are getting little freebies.

The other day, when I was talking to my sister in law, she was saying how she just doesn't have time to coupon.  I told her that I agreed with her.  She works full time, keeps up with athletic schedules for 2 very busy daughters, and participates on sports teams herself.  I told her, what she needed to do, was let one of the girls do it.  Then split the savings with them.  It's amazing how eagle eyed children can get when there is money involved.  Besides teaching a child good spending habits, wouldn't you rather give money to your child for good work, instead of a corporation, like Walgreens or CVS.

Today's Recipe:  South of the Border Wings, using chicken wings on sale at Price Cutter.
2 lbs. chicken wings/ 1c. bbq sauce/ 1T chili powder/ 1/2t. garlic powder
Separate wings at joint, and bake at 450 degrees for 35 min., then drain grease.  Mix the other 3 ingredients, and brush wings with mixture.  Bake for another 10 min.

Make Saving Fun :)

66 ct. Pringles: Tuesday, July 12th

Today's Deal:  Even if you aren't normally a Dillons shopper, you may want to make an exception this week.  They are having a "Mega Event"-where if you buy 10 of a variety of items, you get 50 cts. off each item.  I bought 9 cans of Pringles-I had 3 coupons for $1 off when you buy 3 cans, so that brought the cost of each can down to 66cts. each.  At Wal-Mart, Pringles are $1.50 per can.  For my 10th item, I got a bottle of Lipton Green Tea for 49cts.  Match up these Mega items with a manufacturer's coupon and the prices are a steal.

The coupons for the Pringles were from the inserts of 6/26.  Many people clip their coupons and file them in baseball card holders contained in binders.  I find that an easier way, is to take the insert and mark the date in black magic marker on the front, and put it in a manilla folder.  In about a month, go back through the insert, most of the coupons will be expired, you can clip the ones you want that have a longer expiration date.  To me this eliminates a lot of needless clipping.

Today's Recipe:  Using Pasta Roni -on sale at Dillons this week for 49 cts.
Cook the pasta according to directions.  Chop up a cooked chicken breast per each box cooked.  Top with parmesan cheese.  Simple, inexpensive, and tastes great.

Check back in for more of my great deals from the Mega Event at Dillons!

Always a good deal :) Tuesday, July 12th

Today's Deal:  Walgreens, at St. Louis and Campbell, had Always save pantiliners on sale for 99cts.  I had a 50ct. coupon, so they were only 49cts.  Good price!  I also picked up some free razors while I was there, and I noticed they had swim noodles for 99cts.

My sister in law, Kat, was telling me yesterday that she tried to coupon, but then she got up there and had the wrong sized items, so she got discouraged and quit.  That happens to a lot of people at first, but like anything else, the more you do it, the more familiar you become with the ins and outs.  After the first few couponing trips, it gets much easier

Today's Recipe:  Crazy Nutty Chicken, using chicken on sale at Dillons.
1/2c. peanuts/ 1c. corn flakes/ 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts/ 1c. honey mustard
Blend peanuts and corn flakes into crumbs.  Coat each breast with honey mustard, then roll in peanut and flake mixture.  Bake @ 400 for 30 min.

Saving as always,
Cindy

Hit the Bullseye: Monday, July 11th

Today's Deal:  No shopping today, so I'm going to tell you how to get to the Target coupon page.  You do have to have a printer to use these.  You can use one manufacturer coupon and one Target coupon per item.  Go to the Target web page---click on the banner at the top that says "Bag Great Savings".  On the next page---go to the far right hand side, click on "See More".  This will give you a drop down menu.  On the left hand side of the drop down menu, underneath the word "Shop"  is "Coupons".  Click on "Coupons" and it will take you to the Target coupon pages.  Using a Target coupon on top of a manufacturer coupon, can score you some great deals.

My friend, Susan, took me to a neat place for lunch today, "Mary's Navajo Tacos".  She had gotten a $12 coupon from the Daily Deal sight of KY3, for only $5.  Most of the local television and radio stations have deals like this all the time.  Be sure and check them out.  It's a great way to try new places.  The Navajo Tacos that we had were delicious.

Today's Recipe:  Strawberry Fluff Float-using Hiland Ice Cream on sale at Harter House.
10 oz. frozen strawberries/ 1c. milk/ 2c. strawberry ice cream
Blend all ingredients until smooth.

Hope you score some hot savings during these hot days :)

Register Rewards Game: Sunday, July 10th

Today's Deal:  I have talked previously about the Register Rewards Game that can be played at Walgreens.  There are a few things that you must remember-1)You  cannot use a Register Reward for the same item. (If you buy a Gum Toothbrush, you can't take that Reward and turn around and buy another Gum Toothbrush, or any product made by the Gum company.)  2)Your manufacturer coupons and your Register Rewards cannot exceed the number of items that you purchase.  (If you have 4 bottles of Dove Bodywash, you can use 3 manufacturer coupons and 1 Register Reward.  If you wanted to use another coupon or Reward, you would have to pick up a 5th item---pro couponers call this filler:)  You can pick up a low cost item, like a candy bar, so that you can maximize your savings.
Here is an example of what I did today:  I bought a Gum Toothbrush for $2, and received a $2 Register Reward.  Then I bought a Woman's 6 Blade Shaver-I used a $2 Register Reward, so I only paid $1.99, and I received a $3.99 Register Reward.  Then I bought an Airwick Air Freshener, I had a $4 manufacturer coupon, and I used my $3.99 Register Reward from the shaver.  I had to add a 49ct. candy bar, so that I could use the coupon and the Reward.  So for $4.49 cents I had a toothbrush, a shaver, an air freshener and a candy bar, but :) after buying the air freshener, I received a $3 Register Reward, which brings my out of pocket down to $1.49 plus tax :)  Not bad, huh!
Some people would not want to have 3 separate transactions, but trust me, the clerks at Walgreens are used to it.  If I am going to have more than 2 transactions, I try to be polite and check out in the cosmetics or photo department.  The clerks are just like us---they know how important saving money is.
I know it seems complicated, but trust me, once you get the hang of it---it's easy and worth it.

Today's Recipe:  Nutty Scotchy Delights using Hallam's Peanut Butter on sale at Price Cutter.
6 oz. pkg butterscotch pieces/ 3/4 c. peanut butter/ 2c. salted peanuts
Melt pieces and peanut butter in double broiler.  Add nuts and stir until blended.  Drop by spoon on wax paper.  Chill.

Remember, if you have any great tips to share, or have tried a recipe and liked it---let me know at booklady500@aol.com
Tight times can be made easier if we all help each other.

Here's to the beginning of another week of great savings!

Strawberry Pie Saturday: July 9th

Today's Deal:  This is a deal that most of you know about.  McDonalds sells pies 2 for $1.  You may not know, that they now have strawberry.  I had one yesterday, and thought it was really good.

Penneys continues their Sidewalk Sale through Sunday.  I heard one lady say today that she had done all of her Christmas shopping at the Sidewalk Sale.  Now that's a deal :)

Today's Recipe:  Berry Berry Good Pie
1 pkg. cream cheese/ Graham Cracker Crust/ 4c. strawberries/ 3/4c. blueberries/ 1 carton strawberry glaze
Beat cream cheese until smooth.  Spread on bottom of pie crust.  Fold the berries into the glaze, pour over cream cheese and chill until set.

Be sure and check back tomorrow for the Sunday coupon list.  One reason I wanted to list the coupons is that the national coupon sites often list coupons which aren't in our inserts.  It's also nice to be able to look back at my list to see if a certain coupon was in our paper that week.

Happy Saving Saturday,
Cindy

Never too rich/too thin--and you can never have too much :) Friday, July 8th

Today's Deal.  This is a deal that I took advantage of yesterday, but it should be available through Saturday.  At CVS, if you buy $30 of selected products, you get a $10 gas card.  Since our CVS doesn't have a station that qualifies nearby, they are giving a $10 gift card to the store.  There are many products on the list of items that count towards the $30 purchase.  I try to get items that I will buy at some point anyway, and ones that I have a coupon for.
I bought 3 pkgs. of 16 double rolls of Charmin, which were $9.99 each.  To get me over the $30 mark, I also purchased a bottle of Dawn for 99cts.  I had 3-25ct coupons for each pkg of Charmin.  After subtracting the coupons, the 99 cts for the Dawn, and the $10 gift card-----I only paid $6.41 per pkg. of Charmin.
I also scanned my CVS card at their magic coupon machine, and got a free candy bar to boot :)

I judge a good price by the Wal-Mart standard.  At Wal-Mart-12 double rolls of Charmin were $7.57, so I was quite pleased with the CVS price.  I know you are thinking, 48 rolls of toilet paper is a lot of toilet paper----but, I subscribe to the theory of  "You can never be too rich, too thin, or have too much toilet paper." :)

Lots of great deals at the JCPenney sidewalk sale.  I got my father a $90 jacket for his birthday, which is in Sept., for only $18, and they had baby sleepers for as low as 97cts.

Today's Recipe:  Quick As a Wink Blueberry Pie, using blueberries on sale at Dillons.
Blueberries/honey/cornstarch/ready made pie crust
Simmer 2 cups blueberries w/  4T. honey and 1 and 1/2T. cornstarch over low heat for 11 min. until berries are tender.  Remove from heat and stir in 2 more cups of berries.  Stir to cool.  Spoon into crust and chill.

Have a great savings weekend,
Cindy

Great Purses-Cheap :) Thursday: July 7th

Today's Deal:  This is one that I took advantage of yesterday, quite by accident.  I was returning a purse at JCPenneys, when a sales clerk walked by, and making conversation, she said----"That purse is cute.  Why are you returning it?"  I told her that when I got it home, it didn't have the kind of bottom that I liked.  Then I mentioned that I had gotten the one I was carrying at Penneys too, and really liked it.  She glanced at the one I was carrying, and said, "Oh we just marked those to $11.97."  When I went and looked, they had one just like the one I had, except a different color.  They also had a cute black one, with chains on the side for $4.97, that I thought my daughter would like, so I picked it up too.
If you are at the mall, and have time, I urge you to shop the Penneys clearance racks.  You can find some bargains.  I got a black turtleneck the other day for $1.97.

I was asked yesterday if I shopped everyday.  I absolutely do not :)  That's why some of my entries will say "took advantage of this yesterday".  Then on some days, I may find 2 or 3 really great buys.  The main thing is to keep your eyes open, and check my blog everyday:) for a heads up on what's out there.  I won't post anything that you can't take advantage of too.  That's why I'm blogging.  The national blogs have deals that work somewhere, but not in Springfield.

I think it's important that in today's economy, we share our knowledge of saving money---and when possible share our resources too.  I had several of the Kentucky Fried Chicken Buy1/Get 1 value meal free.  That's 2 meals with drinks for $5.  I knew I wouldn't use them all before they expired.  So I shared with my co-workers.  One girl said she was going out that night to use her coupon.  I love to save money, and I love to help others save it too.

Today's Recipe:  Western Round Up Dip, using Best Choice cheese, on sale at Harter House.
1 pkg. cream cheese/ 1 can chili (without beans)/ 3T. taco sauce/ 1c. grated cheddar cheese/ 1/2c. Mexican blend cheese.
Spread cream cheese in pie plate.  Cover with chili, taco sauce/and cheese.  Bake at 300 for 30 min.

Sharing the Savings,
Cindy

Enhanced Savings :) Wednesday, July 6th

Today's Deal:  Walgreens has "Extenze Male Enhancement" on sale for $4.99.  A $5.00 Register Reward prints after the sale, so you are getting this great product for free :)
I have taken advantage of this fantastic deal, 3 or 4 times this week at my local Walgreens.  Now I know that the clerks, who are used to seeing me several times a week, are thinking-----this middle aged woman has a rockin' personal life.
Sadly, no.  I am taking advantage of this deal, because I know it will make a great gag gift, should I or any of my friends need one .
I also think that every woman, who is single,  should carry this in her purse. That way, if some guy starts to give her the "it's not you, it's me" speech---she can reach into her purse---hand the enhancement product to him---smile sweetly and say, "You're right---it is you."  Kiss him on the cheek, and walk away.  That would be an exit, that in the words of the "Mastercard" commercial, is "priceless":)

Today's Recipe:  Steak n' Beans, using pork steak on sale at Price Cutter.
4 pork steaks/3 cups baked beans/ 1 1/2 c. chopped tomatoes/ 3/4 c. brown sugar
Mix beans, tomatoes, and sugar.  Pour into baking dish, layering steaks on top.  Bake at 350 for 1 hr.

Save with a smile,
Cindy

McDonald's Smoothie Coupon- Tuesday: July 5th

My blog has had 153 views as of today.  Thanks for looking :)  If you have any money saving tips, try a recipe, or would like to share ideas, please email me at booklady500@aol.com
I would love to have you come on board as a follower, and please let your friends know.  Let's all help each other during these tough economic times.

Today's Deal:  McDonald's has a coupon for Buy1/Get1for their smoothies.  Go to McDonalds.com-
on the left hand menu, click promotions-then on the next screen hit go.  The next screen will have the print button.  The coupon doesn't expire until 7/31, but since internet coupons are usually limited to a certain number of prints, I would go ahead and print one.

Today's Recipe:  MacChicken Supper using Kroger sour cream on sale at Dillons.
1 pkg. deluxe mac n' cheese/ 2c. chopped cooked chicken/ 1/2c. sour cream/ bread crumbs
Prepare mac n' cheese, when finished add chicken and sour cream.  Pour into casserole dish, top with bread crumbs, and heat thoroughly.

Happy 4th of July

Today's Deal:  This deal is one I used yesterday, with my good friend Barb.  A few days ago I received "MoneySaver Marketplace" in the mail.  Normally when I receive these advertisement papers, I just trash.  Since I started this blog, I've been even more vigilant about where coupons might be.  I opened up the paper, and I'm so glad I did.  On page 11, there is a coupon for Buy1/Get1 entree free, for San Francisco Oven.  I hadn't eaten there in awhile, but I always like it.  Barb and I had two entrees for less than $10, and I even had a drink.  It's great to be able to eat at a cool place like that, so cheaply.

Today's Recipe:  Cherry Pork Loin, which is on sale at Harter House.
1 can cherry pie filling/2 T. lemon juice/2 lbs pork loin
Mix pie filling and lemon juice.  Bake pork loin at 325 degrees for an hour and a half.  Pour mixture over roast, and bake for 30 more minutes.

Hope you have a super savings 4th,
Cindy

Sunday: July 3rd

There was an article in the paper today about couponing.  I want you all to know that I am not an extreme couponer.  I don't have enough toothpaste to last a year, just in case of nuclear war.  First of all if that happens, I hope that I am the first to go, and second, if I'm left, I don't think I will be worrying about fresh breath:)  There is only 1 reason to coupon, and that is to free up necessity money, so that you can use it for fun things.  I coupon to help my children---they never have to buy toothpaste:)  And to support a favorite cause of mine.

The other thing I hear a lot, is "I just don't have time."  I hear you there, I have 3 jobs, and that's why the deals that I show are very easy to do.  Just think, if you only saved $10 a week---that would be enough for a weekend getaway.  Once you get into the hang of it, it gets much easier.

Today's recipe:  Cheddar Cheese Chuck Rolls-using ground chuck which is on sale at Price Cutter.
1 lb. ground chuck/ 2 c. cheddar cheese/ 1/4 white onion/  2 cans crescent rolls
Brown ground chuck and onion-drain.  Mix cheese into meat.  Put 1T. meat & cheese mixture onto each roll.  Fold roll over-and place on ungreased cookie sheet.  Bake at 350 degrees for 6 min., or until rolls are a golden brown.

Go 4th and Save:)
Cindy

Sunday: July 3rd

Saturday: July 2, 2011

Today's Deal:  At the Walgreen's at National & Kearney-24 bottles of Dasani water is on sale for $2.39.  I grabbed 2 cases, and would have gotten more, but there wasn't room in my car:)  I know my daughter is laughing at this right now.
My car is always full of things for work, or full of my great deals.  Stace said she was going to report me to hoarders:)  I was telling a friend of mine, and she offered to be a co-signer:)
Each Walgreen's will have different non-advertised sale items.  Each Walgreen's also prices their clearance items differently.  I have seen the exact same item at one Walgreen's for $1.50 and another for 75 cents.
I would like to give a shout-out to the cosmetics clerk at the Walgreen's at Kansas and Grand.  She is super nice, and always very patient when ringing separate transactions, so that the Register Rewards can be used to the fullest advantage.

Today's Recipe:  Snickers Heavenly Fudge, using Snickers Bars, which are on sale at Dillons.
12 oz. pkg of semisweet chocolate chips/1 can creamy milk chocolate frosting/2 Snickers chopped
Line 8 in. sq. pan with foil, extending foil over edges.  Spray foil with Pam.  Melt chips in saucepan.  Remove from heat.  Take 2 T. of the Snickers and set aside.  Add frosting and remaining candy to chips and blend.  Then spread in foil lined pan.  Sprinkle with rest of candy.  Refrigerate 2 hours.

Hoping you score lots of firecracking deals,
Cindy
