It's never too early to Christmas shop. Right now, you can find fantastic gifts at unbelievable prices. I got a fantastic name brand item, normally around $25 at Christmas for only $1. I'd say what the item was , but the person that I'm giving it too, may be reading :)
If you have a fall birthday, right now is a great time to pick up a sweater. I got several at Penney's last weekend for $2.
Plan ahead for giving traditions that you always take part of. At one of my schools we always take part in the Scholastic pajama train. Last weekend at Penney's they had lots of winter pajamas for only $2 a pair. If you know that every holiday season you take part in a mitten tree, hat or scarf collection for impoverished children, at your church or social club, now is the time to pick those things up.
Also, everyone should have at least two baby outfits in their closet, one for a girl and one for a boy. Preferably have one that works for winter/fall, or spring/summer. Especially when you can get these things inexpensively. Everyone on occasion, knows an acquaintance they want to get a small baby gift for, just so they know you remembered them.
The key to this, is put all these things in the same place, the same closet, the same plastic tub etc. So that you don't forget where they are when the time comes that you need them.
To really be a saver, you have to think a little bit ahead, and be just a little bit organized, but it is well worth it, when the holidays are over, and you aren't worried about paying the bills.
