I talked about the Plastic Jungle website, for discounted gift cards that I had used with great success and satisfaction.
Today, I'm going to tell you about a great deal on Priceline that I got over Spring Break. I don't like to drive all that much, and I am a horrible driver. Once I was asked if I would consider getting a driver's license in England. My reply was, "@#$$% no. I'm darn lucky they give me one here in the United States :)"
Anyway over Spring Break I was going to meet a friend in Joplin, who lives in Pittsburg Kansas. It's about a 45 min. drive from there, and as most of you know, about an hour and 15 min. from here. My friend has an 11 yr. old son, and needed to go back that evening. I hadn't really done anything much fun, so I decided that rather than spend 2 1/2 hours on the road, I would just spend the night, kick back, read, shop at a few stores that we don't have in Springfield, get at least a little away time.
I didn't really want to spend that much on a room, since it was really just a frivolous treat. Driving back wouldn't have killed me. I had a friend who had used Priceline before and had really good luck when he was setting up reservations for his department to attend teaching conferences. I figured Joplin was a small town, so I couldn't go that wrong. First of all I checked prices online, and they ranged from $79-$129 dollars. More than I wanted to pay, for a small extravagance to make my weekend a little more enjoyable. I went to Priceline.com. They first of all ask you what star rating you would like to stay in. I said 3 stars or up. Then they ask you how much you are willing to pay for the room. I put in $50. The deal is, once you place your reservation there is no canceling----no matter what hotel they set you up in. You don't have a choice of hotels, you just have a choice of star ratings. They ended up booking me at the Holiday Inn in Joplin for $50 on a Saturday, which I thought was a great deal. The room had two beds, and was very nice.
I had taken my daughter there a few years ago on her birthday. We went shopping and to the casinos, and the room had been around $100. Needless to say I was very pleased with the $50 rate.
I'm ready for Spring Break again :) And this time I may travel somewhere farther than Joplin :)

Old is Good! Friday, March 30th, 2012
I don't mind being old, if it saves me money :), so when I turned 50, I applied for my AARP card. It costs $17 a year to belong, but you more than make that up in savings at different locations. I saved $3 on a $12 purchase today at Walgreens.
Walgreens publishes a monthly coupon book, and I just noticed today, when I was looking through it, that if you purchased $10 of Walgreens Brand items (which also includes their new NICE brand), you would get a $3 Register Reward.
The only thing I needed was antacids (I have a sensitive tummy :), so I bought one large container for home, and one small container to carry in my car. The store brand is cheaper, it works just as good, and with the Register Reward, I got a great deal!
One other thing about Tums or any antacids---years ago I was sitting in a doctor's office in Fordland, and read a sign on the wall that said, taking Tums a week before your menstrual cycle could ease your PMS symptoms. Now fortunately those days are over for me, but I used to grow horns the week before my period. When I remembered to start taking Tums about a week before my cycle started, I could tell a real difference. Give it a try, you might be really surprised. I know I was.

I am always leery about using a website that I am not familiar with. I feel much more confident if someone I know recommends it, and says they have had good luck with it.
One site everyone should check out is Plastic Jungle. They sell unused gift cards. Right now they are selling JCPenney Gift Cards for 16% off their value. Penneys has been having such great savings on their 1st and 3rd Friday sales, that with an extra 16% off, they are practically giving it to you.
I've ordered gift cards not only for Penneys, but also for Barnes & Noble, Wal-Mart and others. I've never been disappointed. Give it a try, I think you'll be pleased.

Tutorial on How to Make the Best Use of Save With Cindy: Monday, March 26th

My site is best used in conjunction with a national site, like couponmom.com There are other great sites, that one just happens to be my favorite.
Each Sunday, I list the coupons in both the Kansas City Star and the Springfield News Leader. I began doing this, and I think that's the most important information on my site, because when I would check the national sites, they would often list coupons that didn't come in our papers. So I would search through my coupons, and be disappointed that I wasn't going to get the deal, and disgusted that I had wasted my time going through my coupon circulars.
Now when I see a coupon listed on a national site, I scroll to the date that the national site has listed that the coupon was printed, and check the insert to see if that coupon was actually in our papers. It's much easier to check on the computer, than it is to rifle through the inserts.
The second reason I list the coupons is sometimes it may motivate you to buy more than one paper. We all have brands that we love, and wouldn't think of using anything else. For instance this Sunday, the Star had 2 coupons for Ponds facial towelettes for $1 each. My daughter and I both use this product, so those 2 coupons right there, pay for the Star. When I looked through the listings, there were about $3 in other coupons that I knew I would use---so each Star I buy, I would actually make $3 on. I have said before that buying as many papers, as coupons will pay for helps our economy. Imagine if every person bought just twice as many papers as they usually do--the paper would have to hire more workers, and on and on. Plus in many cases, you actually make money on the papers that you buy.
Here are my suggestions on how to make couponing easy and simple:
1)Get 4 manilla folders. Each week for one month, put all inserts in that one manilla envelope and write in pencil, the date the coupons were printed.
2)Each week when you go shopping, visit the national site, and see what the store, where you plan to shop, has on sale. If the national site says there was a coupon, then pull up my site and see if it came in our paper. If it did, go to your manilla envelope, and clip from the insert it was listed to be in.
I think you will be surprised at the amount of money you will save, just following these 2 simple steps.
After a month, most of the coupons in an insert will be expired. Rifle quickly through, clip any coupons that you think you will use with a later expiration date, and keep those in a separate envelope.

SPRING BREAK
Hello All,
First of all I want to apologize, I didn't realize that I had forgotten to let you know that this week is SPRING BREAK, and that is what I am doing---BREAKING :)
I will be back with my regular posts beginning Sunday, March 24th. I will do my regular coupon listings of the Star and the NewsLeader.

It's the 3rd Friday: March 16th, 2002
And that means it's a JCPenney markdown weekend.
I got some really neat stuff for $1 and $2.
American Living Sweaters and Tops--(This is the brand that is designed by Ralph Lauren, for JC Penneys.) for only $2.
Also Bali Underwear for $1, and an Alfred Dunner top for $2.
My son said he needed gym shorts, so I picked up a couple of pairs for $10 a pair, which isn't bad. They were the "Simply for Sports" brand. Now we will see if they meet his approval. Nice thing about it, is if they don't, I can always take them back, and at the same time look for $2 items that have been returned.

Coupon Listings and Shout Out for Great Service: Sunday, March 11th, 2012
I usually buy my papers at Walgreens on Battlefield and Campbell. Today I witnessed perhaps the best customer service that I have seen anywhere, ever. A young lady working behind the cosmetic counter was helping a very elderly customer (who had come to the store by cab), not only figure out the best way to use her coupons and Register Rewards, but also took her to the items that she wanted, then unloaded her basket and reloaded her cart after checking her out. This customer was physically impaired, and really appreciated the help. I really appreciated watching a young person treat an elderly person with such respect, kindness and dignity. It really started my day off on a bright note.

I'm often asked how I find such great deals. Store familiarity helps a lot. You know where the nooks and crannies of clearance items are.
Today at Walgreens I got 3pk Hanes socks for 37 1/2 cents a pack. The 3 packs were marked 75cts each, then Walgreens had a special on Hanes, buy 1-get 1 free. This has to be one of my all time greatest buys :)
